Self Evaluation Questions

What did you contribute specifically to your project?
Being the martial arts lover I am, I actually spent a HUGE amount of time searching for reliable sources and good videos. The part that I had to spend the most time on was researching for the history; I was only familiar with the techniques and fundamentals of East Asian Martial Arts thanks to my interest and practice in that area. I think my research payed off because I am honestly impressed with the information I gathered.

How successful do you think you conveyed your research to your audience?
I think I did a pretty good job. I kept the history not too detailed but not too shallow so that the readers wouldn't lose interest and just press the back button. I also included a lot of videos so that people could actually see what I was talking about (I think I put in a total of 14 video clips).

What would have made your presentation more successful?
Hm... that is honestly a hard question because I put a lot of effort in making my wikipage visually friendly. Maybe if I had more color in my text it would look more captivating? (Maybe I should do that)

How successful do you think your technology-based materials were in conveying your research?
Being dead honest, I think I did an awesome job in using technology based materials. Martial arts can't be explained by text and words. Real action is what defines martial arts so I put in a lot of time in finding the right videos that would convey what I wanted to say. Luckily, I remembered watching a program called "Human Weapon" that was broadcasted on Discovery Channel about a year ago so I was able to find the perfect videos that explained the math and physics behind martial art techniques.

What would have made your technology-based materials more successful?
Sadly, there are too many techniques for me to address individually so I decided to post only three technique analyzing videos for each country. More videos could have possibly made my technology based materials more successful.

What did you learn from this project? Submit any other comments after this question.
I learned the history of East Asian Martial Arts. Although I was already familiar with the techniques and fundamentals, I also got to know more of them and the actual physics behind them. Another thing that I learned was that although they look similar, East Asian Martial Arts actually differ a lot in many aspects. This project clearly widened my knowledge of martial arts as a whole and even added a few techniques to my own attack list.
